An unforgettable evening of Spanish music and dance all inspired by the spirit of Federico Garcia Lorca.

Paloma de Vega - dance & voice
Nilko Andrea - guitar & voice
Alfonso Cid - voice & percussion
Hayk Arsenyan - piano
Elizabeth Chidester - soprano, voice

The Universe of Federico Garcia Lorca will guide this performance into the Spanish dances, poems and songs from the traditional Spanish songbook. There will also be pieces from Padre Soler, Manuel De Falla and Isaac Albéniz.
This performance shows a diverse variety of Spanish dances such as escuela bolera, stylized dance, flamenco and folklore dance that represents a wide artistic spectrum in this field. The audience will appreciate a lot of cultural Spanish items such as classical castanets, folk castanets, Spanish fan, mantón de manila or bata de cola.
The powerful music played by guitar, piano, flute and voice shows the Spanish roots as well as more modern expressions that come from the tradition. This experience will transport the viewer to a special trip to Spain full of emotion, beauty and passion.
This event will take place in our second floor auditorium (accessible by stairs only). A bar will be available and there will be a short intermission of 15 minutes.
If you would like to dine before or after the show, you can visit our restaurant on the first floor. Advance reservations are recommended by calling 718-626-0872.

Between Lava & Songs of Hope
NY Con La Palma and Tabula Rasa Present
Between Lava & Songs of Hope
We, “NY con (with) La Palma” are a group of New York City and NYC Metropolitan area residents originally from or with close ties to the Canary islands, Spain, who want to help our people across the Atlantic–not just telling them “La Palma we are together on this,“ but doing something to help them.
The Volcano Cumbre Vieja on the Canary Island of La Palma erupted on September 11th. and kept erupting until December 13. This long and devastating volcanic activity has left neighborhoods and farming areas totally destroyed. People have lost their homes, their farms, and their way of living. They need help.
Our group “NY con La Palma” wants to help. For that purpose, we are organizing a musical event. We invite you to join us in our fundraising efforts so we can deliver not only words of support and hope but also money to rebuild their neighborhoods and their lives. Please help us help them!
Visit us on Facebook: @NYConLaPalma for more information.

Flamenco Christmas Dinner-Show
Flamenco Christmas
With great enthusiasm we want to start a beautiful tradition in the Spanish Center of Queens. This year we will start a beautiful Christmas Flamenco Show in which we will celebrate with members and friends the beginning of the festivities.
It is a big effort for the Center to put together this Christmas Show, especially in this year of covid-19. It has been a difficult year for all of us, especially for artists and cultural entities. But despite of all of that we want to contribute with our cultural heritage to raise the spirit and try to end the 2021 on a positive and celebratory note for members and friends.
Support the club by attending our Christmas show. You will enjoy a high quality show and contribute your “grain of sand” so that we continue to promote culture and the arts at the Spanish Center of Queens.
This show requires a lot of work from musicians and artists. Custom musical arrangements of the guitar and violin have to be written for the songs and choreography. It also requires the assembly of specific choreography for Christmas music and the specifics of the occasion.
As you can see this will be a very special show, do not miss it !
I am really thankful for all those who consistently support us.
